Abstract

Product design, in the digital era, plays a very important role in keeping users engaged and satisfied. The trade-off between aesthetics and usability is fast becoming the key consideration for designers intent on creating engaging user experiences. Aesthetically appealing designs draw users, but only usability will retain them with intuitive navigation and functional efficiency. This manuscript examines the critical balance of aesthetics and usability in digital product design by taking a close look at design principles, user behavior, and the state-of-the-art technology advancements. Through extensive literature review and methodological analysis, we derived a framework of how to reach the optimal harmony. Case study and user survey results show the need to strike the right balance between visual appeal and practical functionality.
